| Me, as Imogene Herdman at the Springville Playhouse, age 10 |
I heard Alice gasp and she poked me. "I don't think it's very nice to burp the baby Jesus," she whispered, "as if he had colic." Then she poked me again. "Do you suppose he could have had colic?"
I said, "I don't know why not," and I didn't. He could have had colic, or been fussy, or hungry like any other baby. After all, that was the whole point of Jesus--that he didn't come down on a cloud like something out of "Amazing Comics," but that we was born and lived...a real person.
--Barbara Robinson from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (pg 98)

Love it! Do you still have the Gladys Christmas tree star?
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to be Alice, but instead I was in the angel choir...just like everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI read this book last night and it was wonderful. You and Kate make perfect Herdmans.
I LOVE it. I just read that book today. The bolded part of the quote is so poignant!
ReplyDeleteI remember going to see in you in that play! Your dad was our primary teacher and afterward we went to Pizza Hut. That was a great day:)
